MATCH RESULT:

An early goal for Swansea wasn’t enough as they could not survive the onslaught of Man City, who really should have scored more.

Credit where it is due, Swansea showed why so many teams – Man City included – struggle to score against them. A few good saves by both keepers, however Clichy was unlucky to be denied by the post.

At the end of the day, Manchester City deserved the three points, and they close the gap on league leaders Chelsea and second placed Southampton.

FINAL SCORE:
Manchester City 2
Swansea City 1

MATCH PREVIEW:

Manchester City will be looking to bounce back after a disappointing 2-all draw against the Queens Park Rangers, but face a difficult challenge against Swansea City in what is their best ever Premier League campaign. Join The Roar from 2:00am (AEDT) for live updates.

Despite only losing one of their last six, and star man Sergio Agüero currently leading the Premier League goal tally with 12, Manchester City find themselves chasing the two teams at the top of the table.

With league leaders Chelsea unbeaten this season and second placed Southampton four points ahead, the Citizens can’t afford to drop points if they wish to win the league for the second year in a row.

City defender Vincent Kompany and midfield star David Silva are both in doubt for this clash, with injuries that prevented them both from playing during this international break, but with City’s depth manager Manuel Pellegrini shouldn’t have too hard a time finding replacements.

Unbeaten in their last three games, a confident Swansea City side welcomed a determined Arsenal to their Liberty Stadium two weeks ago, scoring two goals in as many minutes for an entertaining come-from-behind win. Sitting in fifth place only by goal difference, Garry Monk’s side will be hoping to upset a big-four side for the second week in a row.

Swansea manager Monk will also be happy to have Jonjo Shelevy return to his side, who missed the last fixture after receiving two yellow cards in a disappointing nil-all draw against Everton.

The last time Manchester City and Swansea City played each other the Citizens destroyed the Welsh 3-nil, scoring early in the match then two in a dominant second half.

This time around however, Swansea look like a different side, and with their new-found stubbornness at the back, Manchester City will need something special if they want to find the three points.

Prediction: Manchester City 1 – 1 Swansea City
