Odell Beckham's one-handed NFL catch labelled 'the best ever'

New York Giants wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. has taken one of the most amazing touchdown catches ever seen in the NFL during his sides Week 12 match against the Dallas Cowboys.

The catch occurred on the first play of the second quarter when Eli Manning picked out Beckham racing down the right sideline.

Despite being heavily covered by Brandon Carr, who was flagged for pass interference, Beckham managed to stick three fingers to the ball and drag in the 43-yard pass.

To add to the difficulty of the catch, and subsequent touchdown, Beckham had to control the pass while falling backwards, also ensuring he didn’t step out of the field of play in the process.

The play was initially reviewed by officials to ensure Beckham did not fall out before entering the end zone, but on replay Beckham is clearly seen sticking the remarkable catch and remaining well clear of the sideline.

NBC commentator and former wide receiver, Cris Collinsworth, was quick to label the pluck as “the best catch he’d ever seen”.

Understandably, the moment also ignited social media mayhem, with fans taking little time to heap the praise on Beckham.

Even one of the NBA’s greatest athletes couldn’t resist the excitement, taking the opportunity to jump on Twitter and applaud the emerging NFL star.

In the post-match press conference when responding to the praise, Beckham stated: “I hope it’s not the greatest catch of all time. I hope I can make more.”

The second-quarter play gave the Giants a 14-3 lead, however they would go on to lose the match 31-28.

Odell Beckham Jr. was drafted by the New York Giants in 2014 after playing college football for LSU.
