Here’s a little potpourri of National Rugby League to chew over as an option to those wanting something other than international talk – not that there’s anything wrong with that.

There’s only about 90 sleeps to go before kick off, which is not far away at all.

Shaun Kenny-Dowall on the outer is the big rumour running the mill. He had a sit up and take notice year, well two years, for the Chooks and was great in the Four Nations. But someone’s got to make room for Blake Ferguson.

Word is the Sharks are after him, as well as the Tigers.

Jason Taylor has freed up some cash lately, and being an ex-Rooster himself may have a foot in the door. SKD’s a good player and only 26, and it may also give Chris Lawrence the chance to answer his calling and move into the back row.

Which leads me onto the next topic – keep sipping. The Tigers. They are 80-1 to win the minor premiership or 10-1 to get into the top four for the less adventurous. It seems like plenty of bang for your buck there. If they can all stay fit it’s an excellent young roster, but will those halves be wearing the sky blue and defending our booty next year? It’s unappreciative in hoping so, but I want more.

Who are the zeros to heroes for next season? My three are Moses Mbye, who I’m tipping to keep Michael Lichaa in reserve grade, Valentine Holmes of course, and Jake Mamo from the Knights. I’ve never seen the Titans’ Kane Elgey but Albert Kelly was a pretty decent footballer.

Russell Packer should be banned for life, Paul McGregor will be the first coach axed unless he plays Josh Dugan at fullback, and the Cowboys will break their supporters hearts… again.

Tell me I’m wrong, I’m not particularly sensitive.
