MATCH RESULT:

The referee blows the whistle and that’s the end of this one. A pretty lacklustre affair at the end of the game, although Juventus started the match full of life and eager to take top spot on the Group A table.

Both teams unable to take advantage of whatever chances they had, and in the end both teams are content with keeping clean sheets and going into the next stage of the UEFA Champions League.

Every player on the pitch played the full match, which is an accurate reflection on the lack of intensity of the match, although there were one or two moments that could have put either team in front .

FINAL SCORE:
Juventus 0
Atletico Madrid 0

MATCH PREVIEW:

It’s the sixth and final match-week of the group stages of the UEFA Champions League, and the top two teams of Group A will play for top position when Juventus host Atletico Madrid. Join The Roar from 6:45am (AEDT) for live scores and commentary.

A win by two goals or more will see Juventus overtake Atletico Madrid for the top position on the table. Despite being only three points above third place Olympiakos, a goal difference advantage of eight should still almost guarantee qualification into the round of sixteen.

A draw for Juventus would guarantee them a place in the round of sixteen, but Massimiliano Allegri will want his men to extend their impressive record against Atletico Madrid at home, having beaten them in all three of their European competition games at Juventus Stadium.

Despite a disappointing scoreless draw for Juventus in their last fixture against Fiorentina, they still remain at the top of the Serie A table, three points clear of second placed Roma.

Atletico Madrid travel to Torino riding a five-match unbeaten streak, and having only conceded one goal in their last games. Whilst Atletico Madrid are guaranteed qualification into the round of sixteen, Diego Simeone will want his men to finish the group stages on a high, and on top of the table.

The reigning La Liga champions currently sit in third place on the Liga BBVA table, two points behind second placed Barcelona and four points behind current league leaders Real Madrid.

The last time these two teams played Arda Turan found the net in the 74th minute to give Atletico the one goal win in a highly competitive match at the Estadio Vicente Calderon in Madrid.

Although Juventus are opening up as slight favourites, I can see him settling for a draw and guaranteed qualification into the round of sixteen.

My prediction: Juventus 1 – 1 Atletico Madrid.
