The number one seed in the Women’s draw, Serena Williams, continues her quest for a sixth Australian Open crown against Russia’s Vera Zvonareva on Day 4. Join The Roar for live scores from around 12:00pm (AEDT).

Zvonareva opened up her 2015 Australian Open campaign in strong fashion against twenty year old Tunisian, Ons Jabeur. She dropped just five games in that match, moving through to the second round in just over an hour.

Zvonareva was gifted an incredible amount of points in the match however, as Jabeur racked up an inexcusable 46 unforced errors in just two sets.

The former world number two can not expect the such generous treatment against the current world number one today.

In Williams’ two set, 16-game win against Belgium’s Alison Van Uytvanck, she racked up only 17 unforced errors. This means Zvonareva is going to have to find points somewhere else today.

Unfortunately the hunt for these points appears somewhat fruitless as Williams is in red hot form currently and is heavily backed to easily move through to the third round.

Despite being past the best tennis of her career, Zvonareva has featured in Grand Slam finals in the past and knows what it takes to advance in big matches at Melbourne Park, having reached the semi-final on two occasions in 2009 and 2011.

Her big match experience will count for something today, and the Russian veteran should be able to push Williams and at a minimum, sneak a set.

But Williams will inevitably be too strong, and continue her charge to yet another Australian Open third round.

Prediction: Williams in three sets.
