Melbourne Rebels backrower Sean McMahon and Waratahs winger Rob Horne have both agreed to two-year contract extensions with Australian Rugby, and will stay in the country until the end of 2017.

The new deals mean both players will play the next three in Australia Rugby with the Rebels and Waratahs respectively.

McMahon was a revelation in 2014, and at just 20 years old is one of the players rightly considered to be the future of Australian rugby. He played his debut Test for the Wallabies against Wales, as well as others on the end of year tour, won Super Rugby rookie of the year, and was the player of the inaugural National Rugby Championship for Melbourne Rising.

McMahon also played in the bronze-medal winning Sevens side in the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow.

Horne’s re-signing is another bonus for Australian rugby, having had his most successful year in rugby in 2014. Not only did he win a title with the Waratahs, but he played 10 matches for the Wallabies throughout the June tour, the Rugby Championship and end of year tour.

He has now played 25 Test for the Wallabies, and will be hoping to add to that during the 2015 Rugby World Cup.
