After a cracking first day, the 2015 Auckland Nines have quickly arrived at the business end of the competition, with Day 2 set to decide who will be crowned the champions of the second NRL Nines. Join The Roar from 9:10am (AEDT) for live scores and coverage.
Another 16 games of high intensity NRL Nines awaits on Day 2 of competition in Auckland.
The Eels, Rabbitohs, Wests Tigers, Roosters and Sharks were the five teams that emerged unscathed from their two matches on Day 1 of competition.
The Roosters and Sharks will meet in their final group game on Day 2 to decide who will go top of the Red Group. The Eels, Rabbitohs and Tigers, are all well placed to lock in top spot in their group and move into the finals undefeated.
The reigning Nines champions, the North Queensland Cowboys, opened their account with a strong win against the Melbourne Storm, but weren’t strong enough for the Rabbitohs, going down 19-12.
They come up against the Panthers today in a match they would be confident of winning based on Penrith’s disappointing results yesterday. Not only losing both of their games on Day 1, the Panthers also only managed to notch up four points in each of their games, while conceding 11 and 20 in the process.
They are out of a finals place, while a strong win could see the Cowboys secure a finals berth.
Who will emerge as the top Nines side of 2015? Join The Roar for live scores and coverage from 9:10am (AEDT). If you are following the action live, be sure to share your thoughts on the match in the comments below.
