After banking an unlikely three points last week, the Central Coast Mariners will be full of confidence when Round 17 of the A-League kicks-off in Gosford tonight. They face a Brisbane Roar side fresh from a last-start win against the embattled Jets, looking to keep in touch with the top six.

Phil Moss has conceded the come from behind win may not have been the prettiest but believes his side took a lot of confidence out of the result against the more fancied Adelaide United. After the win last week, Moss has implored his players to come out breathing fire against Brisbane and record back-to-back wins for the first time this season.

Forced into making changes after the departure of Mitch Duke to Japanese side Shimizu S-Pulse, Moss has named an extended squad, including defender Zac Anderson, midfielder Glen Trifiro and new signing, Fabio Ferreria.

Moss has spoken glowingly about Ferreria, who missed last week’s win against his former side due to the much publicised ‘gentlemen’s agreement’, and is likely to start the classy Portuguese winger.

A Brisbane win will see them jump into the top 6, however they will need the Phoenix to do them a favour against Melbourne City if they are to remain there longer than 24 hours. It’s an incredible turn-around for a side which, after sacking coach Mike Mulvey six weeks into the season, is finding form at the right time.

Frans Thijssen had warned fans that it was always going to take time for his side to get back on track and with two wins from two plus the return of championship winning goalkeeper Michael Theo and star playmaker Thomas Broich, Brisbane fans finally have something to roar about this season.

New signing Andrija Kaluderovic has been named in the Roar squad for the first time since joining the side in the January transfer window.

Kaluderovic arrived in Brisbane after spells for Red Star Belgrade, Beijing Guoan and most recently for Ljubo Milicevic’s old club FC Thun in Switzerland. Brought in to replace the misfiring Mensur Kurtishi, Thijssen has a good feeling about the Serbian international and believes he will do well for the Club.

Fans were treated to a six goal thriller the last time these sides met and with 72 goals in this fixture you can expect more tonight as both sides chase a spot in the top six. Join The Roar tonight from 7.30pm (AEDT) for live score updates and debate in our live blog.
