Here are my player ratings from Round 2 of Super Rugby. Submit your own, keeping the figures for mediocre scores aside for reasons of brevity.

Scores should be between anyone over 7.5 and anyone below 3.5, ie for very good and poor performances.

Please submit your own scores for a whole team, and I will compile every ones submitted teams scores and produce Wallaby form teams later in the week both team of the round and accumulative teams.

A surprising highlight in each game this week was strong scrumming performances from the Aussie boys..

Brumbies
Their scrum and maul were very dominant until props replaced. Forwards their strength this game. Missed too many tackles, (15%) however it was their attack that was their weakness.

On the back of their forward dominance they could only manage one try. There was no creativity in their attack, instead they just relied on individual brilliance.

They had no attacking shape, and instead were just shovelling the ball from side to side. Gone was their two waves in attack and support and offload game.

In the last quarter, under a lot of pressure they were mentally weak and kicked a lot of ball away with a small lead, just asking Chiefs to come back. White was the culprit.

Then they lost a lineout on their line, gave a scrum penalty away not trusting their defence and lost the game.

B. Alexander 8/10
J Mann-Rea 7.5/10
S Sio 8.5/10
R Arnold 8/10
I Vaea 7.5/10
M Toomua 7.5/10
T Kuridrani 7.5/10
R Coleman 7.5/10
Speight 8/10

Waratahs – Rebels
The Waratahs scrum dominated for the first 32 mins then it was even until the 54th min then Rebels had the better last 26 mins. This tied in with the injuries to the Waratahs – Robinson third minute, Polotau-Nau 32nd minute, and Skelton and Kepu who were replaced in the 54th minute.

The Waratahs were better in the forwards and backs without being dominant. They were let down by not keeping focus for the 80 minutes, and lapses in concentration cost them.

Their attack was aided by broken line defence, with the Rebels missing 17 per cent of their tackles. Rebels attacked the ruck very hard and took their opportunities.

Reds – Force
This game was played in very heavy conditions. The Force had the attitude that the Tahs had against them the week before.

They went in thinking they had it won considering the Reds’ poor performances and their spate of recent wins against them. Reds played with attitude and heart that was missing. Needless to say Reds won. Reds scrum was so dominant that it was awarded a penalty try. One that should of been given earlier and a yellow card.

The Reds dominated the ruck but kicked too much good ball away. Conditions may have lent to that and that the Force attack was toothless. However you need the ball to score tries.
