It seems like old news, but Derrick Rose is injured again.

The news of another injury to the Chicago superstar rips out the heart of the whole organisation – players, fans and of course Derrick himself.

Rose complained of pain in his right knee on Tuesday, with a subsequent examination and MRI confirming a medial meniscus tear of the right knee.

The deadline for Derricks’ return is unclear. He could be out for the rest of the season, or has the possible chance of reappearing in the playoffs – should the Bulls make them.

It is unknown how and when the injury occurred, however things couldn’t have been much worse for Rose as he finished the Monday night game against the Bucks shooting one of 13 from the field, one of the worst outings of his career.

Derrick has had significant trouble to remain on court since his 2010-11 MVP season, even with the help the Bulls franchise has provided him in 2014-15. The acquisition of Aaron Brooks from Houston allowed Rose to be continuously rested to make sure he was fully fit as much as possible. Evidently, this was not able to prevent another injury.

Since his MVP season, Derrick has missed 192 games due to injury, including all of the 2012-13 season thanks to a torn left ACL suffered in the first game of the playoffs the previous year.

Rose was averaging 18.4 points, 3.1 rebounds and five assists per game this season, which is considerably less than the one where he collected the title of MVP. In that 2010-11 season he achieved numbers of 25 points, 4.1 rebounds and 7.7 assists per game, and it’s highly unlikely now that he will ever achieve that again with his ageing body.

It’s such a disappointment to see such a wonderful talent, one of the most explosive point guards the game had seen pre-injury, have such horrendous luck.

This injury is not just a blow to Derrick Rose, his teammates and the Chicago Bulls, but to the whole NBA. The league has not been able to watch or play against a fit Chicago team since the 2011 season. Sometimes, it’s just not fair. We wish you all the best, Derrick.
