TWO GOOD! Zahra wins back-to-back Melbourne Cups on Without a Fight as three horses pull up lame
Without a Fight completed the rare Caulfield Cup-Melbourne Cup double on Tuesday as star jockey Mark Zahra went back-to-back in the big one after…
The Group 1 Blue Diamond (1200m) is the feature race in a strong racing day on the Melbourne Autumn calendar. Join us for live commentary before the race start time at 5:50pm AEDT.
Interesting to note that the last five winners of this race have all gone into the race undefeated, and the last four favourites have won the race.
Fonition is the best filly in the race and she showed that in the Fillies prelude with a powerful finish. She comes in as a strong favourite and is also undefeated, which is a big tick if we are looking at history, however $2.25 is very short.
Pride of Dubai was eye catching in his prelude run coming from 10th on the track to finish second behind Of the Brave, there is plenty of upside but he is shortish in the market at $6.
In that race Sampeah charged home and from twelfth to third in an eye catching display. He looks like he will relish the 1200 metres, so the $12 currently being offered is massive value.
Of The Brave showed some true quality in being able to absorb pressure and still win. Despite Sampeah’s run home he finished close to 2.8 lengths in front still. He is also big odds of $13 so you are hunting some value if you think something can beat Fonition – it’s worth noting Of The Brave is also an undefeated runner.
Stoker looks to be the pick of the rest, with Lake Geneva, Air Apparent and Thurlow creating some value.
