The Newcastle Jets and Central Coast Mariners will both be desperate for a win when they descend on Hunter Stadium for the F3 Derby on Saturday afternoon. You can follow live scores of the match from 5:00pm (AEDT) and leave your thoughts in the comments below.

The Jets and Mariners have had less than ideal campaigns so far this season. Off field drama and on field struggles have seen the NSW rivals slump to 8th and 9th on the A-League ladder after 18 games.

With nine matches left (including today) there is still plenty of potential points up for grabs for these sides to make a tilt at playing finals in 2015. But that being said, both teams (especially the Jets) need to find some momentum for this to be possible – and fast!

As is the case with all good derbies, form goes out the window and the quality of the contest is high when the F3 Derby rolls around.

The Mariners have dominated the rivalry in recent seasons, with their last loss in the derby coming way back in October 2012.

In the most recent meetings, goals have been hard to come by, with a 1-all draw played out last November and the Mariners claiming a 1-nil win in October.

Prediction: The Jets are yet to claim a win in 2015, and have only managed five goals in those five games.

However there is no better opportunity to break a drought than at home against a rival that is also struggling to find consistent form.
