Perth Glory entertain Brisbane Roar at home on Saturday as the A-League title race hots up. Join The Roar for live scores and commentary from nib Stadium from 9.30pm (AEDT).

League leaders the Glory are in a bit of a slump at the moment after having drawn their past two games and going down 3-1 to Sydney FC before that.

The West Australians remain on top of the table, with 35 points after 18 matches, but Melbourne Victory are breathing down their necks. The Victory are only two points behind and if they defeat Wellington on Sunday night, and Perth slip-up, first place will be theirs.

The Glory have also been battling a few off-field problems, such as the nightclub incident with Andy Keogh and Josh Ridson, and the FFA’s probe into their salary cap. Considering they haven’t won in their past five games, victory here would be a much needed boost. Coach Kenny Lowe says that his side are not a in a slump but they need to do their talking on the pitch.

In contrast, Brisbane are coming off a 1-0 loss to a 10-man Beijing Guoan on Wednesday night in the Asian Champions League. It was a game they probably didn’t deserve to lose. The Roar have won three straight matches in the A-League since the Asian Cup break and have veterans Thomas Broich and Michael Theo back.

It is a short turnaround and a long flight over to Perth for them.

Brisbane are in a tight battle for sixth spot with Melbourne City and with the season coming to the pointy end, every point counts.

The last time these two clubs met it was 1-1 draw in November, while the Glory got the spoils in Round 2 with a 3-2 victory.

Jean Carlos Solorzano has been in good form but he is carrying a slight injury. This could mean Serbian striker Andrija Kaluderovic gets a chance to shine, while Henrique is back and his goals have been vital to Brisbane this season.

With two days to prepare for this game, and with the Glory having home advantage, I’m tipping Perth in this one.
