Boxing trainer Floyd Mayweather Senior loves to write a poem every time he has a ring date with rival trainer Freddie Roach. His favourite subject is Roach’s favourite pupil and eight-division champion, Manny Pacquiao.

Back in 2009, Mayweather wrote a long poem that the offensive-minded Pacquiao would lose via knockout to Ricky Hatton, the British brawler Mayweather was training.

The ‘Hitman’ was set to slug it out with Pacquiao in a junior welterweight championship.

The poem, recited by Mayweather during the final press conference, appeared in PhilBoxing.com on April 30, 2009:

I am being for real and saying what I feel,
This is the truest quote that I ever wrote,
From the first to the last note,
Hey Pac,
Its over, so quit wishing on a four leaf clover,
You got a choice to make,
You’re at the cross roads,
You gotta make up your mind,
You can go right or you can go left,
And you can’t depend on nobody else,
We need to do what we need to do
It ain’t personal between me and you,
Come May second, you will be uncrowned with your head hanging down,
The pain and stress left to confess that the Hitman’s the best,
So lets make it simple and plain after this fight, Pac will never be the same,
It aint no diggity it aint no doubt, Pac’s gonna find out what it’s all about,
When he beat the ole legend Oscar de la Hoya,
He was over the hill,
Now it’s time for you to swallow the same damn pill,
So get your tickets now peoples-and lets make it clear,
That the Pacman ass woopin is almost here,
It aint no secret and I hope you know,
The Hitman Hatton by KO!

As we all know, it was Pacquiao who knocked out Hatton in the second round through a single punch. The loss was the most brutal for the man from Manchester, and was the beginning of the end of his storied boxing career.

Now, Mayweather wants revenge.

He wrote a new poem for Pacquiao, who is set to face his son, Floyd Jr, in the most anticipated and richest fight in the history of the sport on May 2, 2015, in Las Vegas.

Ben Thompson posted Mayweather’s new poem on Fight Hype on February 24, 2015:

People’s been sayin’ all along that Floyd didn’t wanna fight
But they will all see on that night
Floyd is guaranteed to excite, ignite, and rewrite history
There will be no question or mystery
Manny might have lost his way
After sleeping on the canvas the other day
My son’s future is very bright
Manny’s looks more like night night

But whether Mayweather, who trains his son, will get his revenge in May remains to be seen.
