The Newcastle Jets will be looking to break an eight-game winless streak when they host Sydney FC. Join us on The Roar from 7:45pm (AEDT) for live scores and commentary.

Coming off a lacklustre nil-all draw against Central Coast in the F3 derby, the Newcastle Jets are in a rut.

No wins in eight games, including a 7-nil demolition at the hands of Adelaide United, the Jets enter the business end of the A-League playing for pride.

Despite poor results, Jets manager Phil Stubbins remains optimistic:

“It hasn’t been a season where things have gone our way or fell in our laps. But we just keep going. To create luck we need to keep working very hard. And culturally we’re good as a group.”

The Jets presented three fresh faces in the F3 derby and Enver Alivodic, Lee Ki-Je and Mitchell Cooper all looked promising for the Newcastle side.

Unbeaten in seven games, Sydney FC will look to continue to score goals and climb up the ladder when they visit Hunter Stadium. Three points will get them up to second place on the A-League table.

Coming off an incredible 4-3 derby win over the Western Sydney Wanderers, and holding an average of 3.8 goals per game in their last five fixtures, Graham Arnold’s side will be looking to kick the Jets while they are down and continue their impressive streak.

Sydney striker Marc Janko has netted eight times in his last five games, and currently sits on top of the A-League goal-scoring tally with 12.

The last time these two sides met was in early January, where a dubious decision denied Janko a goal and Sydney FC three points. The uneventful game ended nil-all.

Expect Sydney to run away with the points this time around.

Prediction
Newcastle Jets 0–2 Sydney FC.
