Chinese Grand Prix talking points: Stroll has become the most hated F1 driver in a long time - but that's simply an unfair call!
The absolute vitriol against the Canadian that has come from the incident is beyond reprehensible.
V8 Supercar champions Jamie Whincup and Craig Lowndes will have a new teammate from next season, with Red Bull Racing signing star driver Shane van Gisbergen.
The Kiwi will leave Tekno Autosports to race a third entry for Triple Eight Race Engineering on a three-year deal from 2016, the team announced on Friday.
Triple Eight boss Roland Dane said he felt it was the ideal time to add another car to his stable, given the growing trend of larger teams and more intense competition.
“With Jamie, Craig and now Shane at the wheels of the Triple Eight Holdens, we will be fielding the strongest line-up in one of the world’s most closely fought categories but, for now, we are focusing on the 2015 championship,” Dane said.
The outfit also announced Lowndes had agreed to a two-year contract extension with the championship-winning outfit.
Van Gisbergen has won nine races since making his V8 Supercars debut in 2007 – including seven in the past two seasons with Tekno.
Team boss Jonathon Webb said he was sorry to lose the 25-year-old after such success.
“I’ve had a long relationship with Roland and Triple Eight Race Engineering and we look forward to working together into the foreseeable future with a new face behind the wheel of our race car,” Webb said.
Red Bull has also extended its sponsorship deal until the end of 2017, with an option for 2018.
