Queensland rivals the Brisbane Broncos and the North Queensland Cowboys lock horns at Suncorp Stadium. Join The Roar for live scores and commentary from 8:35pm (AEDT).

These two teams have fought out some great battles over the last 21 years, and in recent seasons the Cowboys have had the edge.

Last year the Townsville-based side won all three clashes, including in the semi-finals.

But North Queensland has had a horrible start to 2015, yet to register a win after losses to the Roosters and Knights.

A rebuilding Broncos, with Wayne Bennett back at the helm, have yet to find their best form. But they at least they have one victory after two rounds, with Brisbane seeing off Cronulla last weekend.

The Cowboys arrive at Suncorp eager for some good news and to prove they really are title contenders this year. Their season starts now.

Johnathan Thurston was smashed all over the park by the Knights and could respond at a ground where he has enjoyed so many successful nights.

The Cowboys also have Lachlan Coote finally back after an 18-month injury-enforced absence. He comes in at fullback, with Michael Morgan in the halves. With Robert Lui dropped, how Morgan and Thurston gel will be crucial.

The Broncos are still adjusting with a new squad but their defence was impressive against the Sharks. Brisbane have gone with an unchanged squad and will want similar intent against North Queensland.

Sam Thaiday was impressive in Sydney and from the bench he’s part of a strong forward pack including internationals Corey Parker, Alex Glenn, Matt Gillett, Adam Blair and Josh McGuire.

The Cowboys have their own rep stars, so expect the likes of James Tamou, Matt Scott and former Bronco Ben Hannant to lead from the front.

Anthony Millford remains at five-eighth for Brisbane, with Jordan Kahu again at fullback. North Queensland is sure to test the youngster out, who is trying to build a new combination with Ben Hunt.

A bumper crowd should pack Suncorp for this one, and the Cowboys will get their maiden victory of 2015.

Join The Roar for all the action from 8:35pm (AEDT).
