Sydney rivals the Parramatta Eels and South Sydney Rabbitohs lock horns at Pirtek Stadium. Join The Roar from 7.30pm (AEDT) for all the action from this Friday night fixture.

Souths have continued to impress as the season rolls on. Getting over the Roosters, frustrating the Tigers, the Rabbitohs have been great and are showing what proper depth they have.

But they have now lost John Sutton and Dylan Walker to injury, two of their key players. It will be fascinating to see how they cope.

Daryl Millard will play his first NRL game since 2009 when he replaces Walker in the centres. Walker was brilliant against Souths and will be sorely missed.

Sutton is a leader and a great line-breaker. Michael Maguire will have a tough choice on who he chooses to replace him.

He has named a six-man bench and two names will be culled come kick-off time.

Parramatta has some bad injuries to contend with, with no Semi Radradra, Junior Paulo and Anthony Watmough on his way back from a cut.

Manu Ma’u and Tepai Moeroa have been earning rave reviews this season because of their talent and toughness.

They will need to be on their A-game to nullify Souths’ pack. The Rabbitohs sizeable engine room gives the go forward that the likes of Isaac Luke, Luke Keary and Adam Reynolds feed off.

The Eels will need to limit the quick-play-the-balls and meet South Sydney with fire in the middle of the park. Get over the top of last year’s grand final winners and they can do some damage.

I’m tipping Souths to maintain their lead at the top of the NRL tree, with Parramatta still missing some vital cogs. The Rabbitohs know how to close out games and should be too strong for a rebuilding Eels outfit.
