South Sydney centre Kirisome Auva’a appeal against a nine-month suspension has been rejected by the NRL.
The premiership-winning outside back sought leave to appeal against the suspension imposed by the NRL after he pleaded guilty to recklessly causing injury to his former girlfriend.
The suspension imposed was for a minimum of nine months and the NRL said in a statement that any application to return to the game wouldn’t be considered until he demonstrated behavioural change designed to prevent the recurrence of violent behaviour toward women.
Auva’a appealed against the decision to suspend him and the severity of the suspension period.
However, the NRL appeals committee found there were no grounds for appeal and his application for leave was dismissed.
The former Melbourne Storm player may apply to have his suspension lifted on July 27 with a view to being re-registered on August 13.
He will only be re-registered by the Rabbitohs if he has met the conditions imposed as part of his suspension.
