#1 Chad ‘Money’ Mendes takes on #4 Ricardo ‘The Bully’ Lamas in a fight which could determine the next top contender for the UFC Featherweight title. Join us on The Roar from 3:00am AEST for live round-by-round updates and commentary.
After a highly impressive five-win streak came to an end in a decision loss to current Featherweight Champion Jose Aldo Junior (25-1), number one ranked Chad Mendes (16-2) will be looking to put a stamp on Ricardo Lamas (15-3) and earn another shot at the title, in either Jose Aldo for the third time or Conor McGregor (17-2).
After derailing Dennis Burmudez’s hype train via an impressive first round submission, Ricardo Lamas is desperate to earn another shot at the title himself. With his only loss in four years coming to the champion Jose Aldo, and having already traded fighting words with Conor McGregor, Ricardo Lamas knows that a win for him would catapult him to top contender status.
Currently riding a three-fight win streak, Jorge Masvidal (28-8) will be looking to continue his good form and climb further up the UFC lightweight rankings. With only one stoppage win in six UFC victories, Masvidal will be looking to put an end to Al Iaquinta’s (11-3-1) recent impressive run.
Coming off three-straight TKO wins over tough opponents Joe Lauzon (24-11), Ross Pearson (19-8, 1NC) and Rodrigo Damm (12-9), Al Iaquinta is proving he is a force to be reckoned with. Having just broken the top 15 rankings, ‘Raging’ Al will be looking to leap frog Masvidal on the rankings via another knockout victory.
Will either Chad Mendes or Ricardo Lamas cement their status as the next number one contender for the UFC Featherweight Title? Will it be Jorge Masvidal or Al Iaquinta that show that they are the next force at 155 pounds?
Join us on The Roar from 3:00am AEST to find out.
