How safe is Pellegrini's job right now?

Manuel Pellegrini would be a great appointment for the England national team.

The morale at Manchester City is beginning to run fairly low now as they slowly watch the title slip out of sight. It was once a two-horse race battle between City and Chelsea a few weeks back, but now the blue half of Manchester look unlikely to grab the title.

Manchester City are now focusing in building a strong relationship with players and staff as they look onto next season to re-group and re-ignite the spark in which saw them become one of the most feared English Premier League teams.

If Manchester City can manage to do this, then it would also do wonders for the coach as Manuel Pellegrini has come under a lot of scrutiny lately. He has been questioned as to whether or not he has had too many downs over the ups, and whether or not he should be taking his business elsewhere after failing to guide Manchester City to achieve their lofty expectations.

Pellegrini is completely aware that sometimes clubs go through bad spells, but with a line-up of some of the best players in world football, the side should be performing much better than they are. With an almost open chequebook at Man City, and considering some of the huge signings, the club’s owners would expect to challenge for several trophies every year.

Salvation could come from Sergio Aguero next season, but only if Manchester City can ward of potential buyers such as Real Madrid who are rumoured to want to acquire his services. Manchester City should do all they can in order to keep him as he holds the key to their return as a dominant force in the English Premier League. No one in the team posses his striking ability and tenacity to spot a chance when he sees one.

The end of the current season will see plenty of debate. Pellegrini can only hope that those talks don’t involve the process of finding potential managers for Manchester City. Whether or not he will be replaced will more than certainly fall on where Manchester City finish on the table.

Man City’s owners aren’t known for their patience.
