There’s nothing like a derby! The Sydney Swans host the Greater Western Sydney Giants in the Battle of the Bridge, with one side set to suffer their first defeat of the campaign. Join The Roar from 4:35pm (AEST) to find out which.

In the short history of the Sydney derby there has never been one quite as important as this.

The Swans are clear favourites, and why shouldn’t they be? Coming off a marvellous 48-point victory over the fancied Port Power in Adelaide, John Longmire’s boys will think that nothing can stop them.

However, their newish neighbours are also in cracking form, after coming from 30 points down at halftime to destroy the Demons by 45 in Canberra.

Before chalking the Swans up for an easy victory in their first game at the SCG for 2015, cast your mind back to Round 1 2014, where the Giants pulled off a stunning upset.

The Giants’ midfielders have been rampant this campaign, while Jeremy Cameron has rediscovered his goal-scoring touch, and is joined by Cam McCarthy in averaging three goals a match so far this season.

The elements are there, but can the GWS youngsters stand up against a much more experienced Swans outfit, which can afford to start a double Brownlow medallist in the substitutes vest?

Each one of the last four games between the two sides have been decided by 30 points or more, with three going the way of the Swans, and one to their neighbours.

Prediction: Sydney Swans by 24.
