Round 3 of the 2015 AFL season had it all, with close calls, local derbies and thrashings lighting up the round.

Here is a brief summary of Round 3.

The Pies kicked their highest score in a long time, four years in fact, to pummel the Saints. For the Pies, this certainly was statement before their traditional Anzac Day clash with Essendon. Pies by 74 points.

The Bombers were in control during their match against the Blues. The final score was a little flattering for the Blues who could not score. Bombers around 21 points.

Demons fought gallantly but in the end were outclassed by an in-form Crows team. Phil Walsh is getting the best out of the Crows. Adelaide by 25 points.

The Giants were outclassed by their cross town rivals but lost no respect. It was a bit of an odd match, with momentum swinging wildly. Isaac Heeney is fitting in well at top level with the Swans, combining with Lance Franklin for nine goals. Swans by 21 points.

Roos versus the Power looked like a possible match of the round and it didn’t disappoint. The Power led for most of the match but with firepower on both sides it was going to be hard to kick the other team out of the game. The Power won in the end with 32 points scored by both teams in the last quarter. Power by 8 points.

The Tigers crushed the Lions during the battle of the big cats. The Tigers had it sealed at three quarter time but were merciless piling on nine goals in the final quarter to two goals. Tigers by 79 points.

Hawthorn had a point to prove after last week’s shock loss. They didn’t disappoint. Bulldogs held on for a quarter but the Hawks were ferocious kicking nine goals to four in the second. A margin that only increased. Hawks by 70 points.

A brutal match between the Suns and Cats who were both searching for their first win. Desperation ensued. The Cats held on for dear life kicking the sealer with 28 seconds on the clock. Cats by 9 points.

Fremantle brutalised the Eagles in the Western derby. They led 56-4 at quarter time with the margin reaching 79 points at one stage in the match. The Dockers did their work in the first half letting the Eagles claw back a respectable margin. Dockers by 30.
