Despite losing to Aston Villa in the F.A Cup semi on the Wednesday, Liverpool has had consolation this week.

Jordan Henderson has signed a five-year deal, one which he had been rumoured to have been in talks with about for many weeks.

Jordan Henderson’s new five-year deal certainly comes with much rejoice. He was reported to be one of the players disappointed with their current season, particularly their failure to qualify for the Champions League.

Liverpool had signed Italian striker Mario Balotelli in attempt to provide more attacking options for the club who began to show obvious signs of struggle after striker Luis Suarez left the club.

Mario Balotelli was brought in to the dismay of many fans. The Italian was unsettled at Inter Milan and so jumped at the offer from Liverpool to re-ignite his football career and attempt to cement his place in the Italian nation team side.

Balotelli has not performed the way the club would have liked – particularly in relation to goals. He has only one Premier League goal so far this season. He may leave at the end of the season.

Liverpool fans can rest assured though that their young and in-form midfielder Jordan Henderson will be around for a long time to come. Retaining young stars such as Henderson will be crucial in attracting top talent – particularly in the wake of Steven Gerrard’s exit.

Brendan Rodgers, despite plenty of criticism, is bringing in plenty of young talent and ensuring Liverpool will be fit and firing in the coming years.
