Nothing other than the most calamitous of collapses can deny Chelsea title success.
Six points is all the Blues need, and they can achieve it before either unlikely challenger in Arsenal or Manchester City next take the field.
The early exit from the FA Cup and Champions League race has aided Chelsea’s domestic ambitions, as Jose Mourinho has been able to consistently field the same team with minor alterations.
In a game Chelsea are expected to win, and with such a sizeable gap at the top, Mourinho may be tempted to restore Diego Costa to the lineup after his return from injury.
Expect that to be the only possible change, as Mourinho seeks to ensure control through the whole 90 minutes. While a win is desired, a draw does not hurt Chelsea’s ambitions, but merely delays them.
It could be argued therefore this game holds more weight for Nigel Pearson and Leicester City, as they stand a solitary point outside the relegation zone.
Key to any success against the likely champions will come in the midfield, and the need for veteran Esteban Cambiasso to turn back the clock will be essential. Support for striker Jamie Vardy is essential if Leicester are to make any inroads in the Chelsea defensive wall, but the focus will likely be at the other end, where the back four of Albrighton, Wasilewski, Huth and Konchesky are all needed to put in a shift in front of Kasper Schmeichel.
While the Leicester faithful inside the King Power will firmly focus on their team, this game takes on a greater proportion as the rest of the Premier League wait to witness Chelsea’s path to glory.
As overwhelming favourites, Chelsea are expected to set up Sunday night’s home meeting with Crystal Palace as their crowning date.
