Jerome Kaino and Charles Piutau out for Super Rugby season

All Blacks Jerome Kaino and Charles Piutau will miss the remainder of the Super Rugby season because of injury.

The pair, who have stood out for the Blues during a disappointing campaign, went off during the first half of the 41-24 win over the Western Force in Auckland on Saturday.

Skipper and loose forward Kaino was replaced in the 17th minute after suffering a compound fracture of his left ring finger.

The loose forward is expected to be sidelined for eight weeks.

Fullback Piutau was helped off 14 minutes later after his left knee got caught in a tackle.

He was diagnosed with medial ligament damage is set to be out for six weeks.

The Blues had other casualties from what was only their second win of the season.

Flanker Luke Braid has suffered another concussion and Blues management said he would be monitored on a regular basis.

The timeframe for his return had not yet been determined.

Five-eighth Dan Bowden, who came off early in the second half with a groin strain, will miss the match against the Rebels in Melbourne on Friday night.

Players expected to return from injury this week include lock Josh Bekhuis, and backs Pita Ahki and Hamish Northcott.
