The Western Sydney Wanderers will be looking to keep their hopes of defending their Asian Champions League title alive when they travel to face Guangzhou Evergrande on Tuesday evening. Join The Roar for live scores from 9:00pm (AEST).

It has been a tough stretch for the boys from Sydney’s west since they lifted the Asian Champions League title in November last year.

Their A-League form has been frustrating for fans, seeing them slump to a ninth-placed finish with just the four wins from 27 starts – hardly the level of success expected for last season’s Premiers Plate winners and Grand Finalists, let alone the champions of Asia.

But success is still a possibility for the Wanderers in 2015, if they can secure a win tonight.

With ten days of preparation dedicated to this match, they have had plenty of time to study their opponents, and skipper, Nikolai Topor-Stanley, spoke confidently of his side’s chances in the lead up.

“We’re still in with a realistic chance of going through. It’s a very difficult group, people said we wouldn’t even get a point and they probably had a right to say that. But we’ve proven them wrong and hopefully we prove them wrong again by winning.

“We need a bit of luck as well, but in football you always need a bit of luck.”

To add to their reasons to win tonight, the match will be the last for home-grown hero Tomi Juric, who announced his departure from the club via a Facebook post on Tuesday.

Can the Wanderers step up in a do-or-die clash, as they have done so many times before in the competition? Or will the Chinese giants continue their dominant run of Champions League form and put the final nail in the coffin of a disappointing six months for the Wanderers?
