David Andjelz is a crazy person. This much we know.

The University of Western Sydney business student entered his submission for the Channel 9 reality show, The NRL Rookie, looking to differentiate himself from the other contestants posting videos of themselves in the gym.

“I saw all the videos on NRL Rookie of people lifting weights, thought to myself, ‘what’s that got to do with footy, yeah it helps you physically, but it’s (what’s in your heart) that counts”

And so, naturally, his mates constructed a brick wall in a Blacktown backyard and Andjelz proceeded to run through it.

You know, because sports.

His antics have gone viral across the internet, being picked up by US sports media empire, Bleacher Report as well as doing the rounds on Australian radio this morning after being initially picked up by Triple M.

For his part, Andjelz seemed to escape any serious injury and will now have to wait to see if his efforts have earned him a crack at earning an NRL contract on the show.

For anyone else thinking of applying, you’ve got until May 15 to get in your videos of yourself breaking whole watermelons over your head, punching yourself in the groin and any other football-related skills you would like to showcase to the world.
