Things have been going well for the stable – Forest Way managed another win (dead-heat), Provocateur grabbed a third at 100 to 1 and Wicked Intent runs Saturday.

Forest Way has been a real stable stalwart, great for the organisation. He’d only won two races when we brought him up here, and has now won six. He’s just a good honest horse, really genuine.

He’s no superstar but he’s won $120,000 in prizemoney and paid his way for his owners who have had some fun with him.

We’re not sure what’s next for him. He pulled up great – he’s a tough old horse. Where we go next with him is just undecided for now – he’s just off Saturday grade during the Winter Carnival and he’s had eight runs this preparation. We might give him a spell and bring him back, we’ll just see how he goes.

Provocateur was third at any old odds in a maiden, but the stable fancied her. She was a bit stiff first-up, copped interference in the straight and while she wasn’t in the finish, she ran super. And to her credit she improved a lot from that run and improved in the stable.

We were quietly confident and the owners had a bit on her, and she ended up just a length and a half off the finish. She’s a four-year old maiden so we’ll be looking for a little maiden for her next.

Wicked Intent I’m really looking forward to tomorrow in the Sires. He’s drawn right out again but he’s done everything right – it’s just up to the gods as to where he lands in the running.

We’ve got Damien Browne on again – he’s had a ride already, knows the horse and the horse goes well for him so we’ll be hopeful.

I’m more confident than I was first-up given his little hoof problem. There’s a couple in the race I’ll be watching – I expect my bloke will be giving Chris Waller’s Counterattack a start and Liam Birchley’s Burberry Hill and Pepparano are good hroses.

Saturday will decide if he runs in the JJ Atkins, if we push on. We’ll just see how he goes. If he runs below par he won’t run in it, but I’m not expecting him to do that. He’s got a bit to do from where he’ll start but we’ll see.

In the big Doomben 10,000, I haven’t yet given up on Our Boy Malachi. He was fairly beaten in the BTC Cup but he might’ve needed that run and you never give up on a horse for one bad performance. He’s a Queenslander too.

Finally, a warm hand for Glen Boss who was announced into Racing’s Hall of Fame yesterday. Three Melbourne Cups with Makybe Diva, plenty of Group 1 winners – he deserved that decision.
