Welcome back, Round 8 is fast approaching and it’s time again to go through this week’s best buys.

But before that, let’s review last week’s selections.

David Armitage came in at number one with a strong 111 points against Adelaide from 31 disposals, he’s now priced over $600,000.

At number two Dan McKenzie, another Saint, represented the best value for a rookie and gained $45,000 in his first price jump.

Tom Mitchell at number three scored a fantastic 128 and jumped over $50,000 in value. Callan Ward scored his lowest of the season, with 83, which isn’t horrible, while Tom Bell rounded out the top five and scored 88 against the Giants and went up in price another $13,000.

Special mentions included Liam Picken, who scored 98 against the Dockers. It looks like he may be done with tagging for a while, if they didn’t throw him onto Nathan Fyfe last week then I don’t know who will make them reconsider, and Picken is doing very well as a pure midfielder right now.

Steve Johnson hit a bargain price and rewarded anyone who jumped on with 110 against the Swans after scoring 130 the week previous.

Now it is time to get on with this week’s top five

1. Luke Parker (MID, $516,100)
Parker copped a head knock at the beginning of the fourth quarter with 98 points in Round 1, and has taken a while to get back to his best. His subsequent scores consisted of 78, 77, 84 and 92. The last two weeks have been scores of 119 and 148 and it looks like he’s back to his old self. At a touch over $500,000 he looks a bargain, especially if he gets back to his form of 2014.

2. Tom Rockliff (MID, $447,000)
Rocky started the season as one of two players over $700,000 and now sits below $450,000. After scoring at 1.18 points per minute in Round 1, he suffered injury to his ribs and was then concussed. So he’s hit a bargain price, his zero against the Suns is out of his system and with 97 and 91 on the trot it looks like he’s slowly getting back to form.

Has a ‘meh’ breakeven, will likely score more than it but not by a huge amount, and thus will still be quite cheap to jump on next week. Isn’t a must this week but this may be the cheapest he gets.

3. Jake Lever (DEF, $157,300)
Debuted against the Suns and scored an impressive 95 and last week came out with 38 against the Saints after being forced to man Josh Bruce. Went at a low efficiency rate and if he had that up he would’ve scored much better. He has a nice breakeven of minus 40 so should should raise a bit next week, and sits likely as this week’s best rookie.

4. Robbie Gray (MID/FWD, $601,800)
Robbie is a Supercoach jet, and comes with a deserved hefty price tag. But he’s worth every penny. He has only had one bad game all season – 73 against the Roos. His other scores consist of 122, 114, 134, 143 and 134, at an average of 129.4 from those games. He will kill you if you keep seeing him week after week in your league opponents’ list of players that you don’t have.

5. Alex Rance (DEF, $476,800)
Rance has had one average game this season with 58 against the Kangaroos and now sits at a far more affordable price in comparison to Tom McDonald and Liam Picken (who, if you have the extra funds, you should seriously look at instead), and has scored 112, 156, 87, 96, 97 and 115 in his other six games. Is a likely type, seems to rack up the points very easily too. Solid option.

Special mentions
Steve Johnson: I mentioned him last week, and I’ll mention him again. He is still under $450,000 and is coming off scores of 130 and 110. Is he back?

Lance Franklin: Finds himself under $470,000 and is coming off his highest score of the season. Has a huge ceiling and is usually consistently between 90-110. Is cheap and won’t be this cheap for too long I suspect.

The watch list
Scott Pendlebury has a breakeven of 182, while Brett Deledio’s is 119. David Mundy’s sits at $590,000 with a breakeven over 150 due to his first week missing the ton in Round 7 and Bachar Houli will soon become more affordable with a breakeven of around 150.

Ollie Wines returns this week with a breakeven of 240. In a few weeks he will be insanely cheap.
