Game 1 of the 2015 State of Origin series saw the Queensland Maroons emerge against bitter rivals, the NSW Blues, by a single point, 11-10, at ANZ Stadium in Sydney.

Cooper Cronk would prove the hero for Queensland, scoring the opening try of the match, along with the field goal that would break the 10-all deadlock late in the match and secure his side the one point win.

Josh Dugan was then given an opportunity to draw the Blues level when he was given the ball in range, however unlike Cronk, his attempt at a field goal drifted to the left, along with NSW’s hopes of a last-gasp result.

Blues fans were left ruing the fact that the ball ended up in the hands of Dugan instead of the sharp-shooting Trent Hodkinson.

Despite much talk of their age in the lead up to the match, the old guard at Queensland proved to be the difference, as Cameron Smith contributed a man of the match performance.
