The third round of the 2015 French Open gets going this evening as the 23-year-old Damir Dzumhur from Bosnia faces a tough match against second seed Roger Federer.

Join The Roar from around 8:30pm (AEST), after the Cornet vs Baroni game for live scores of the match.

World number 87 Dzumhur’s clay court season form has been very mixed. He has played in six tournaments on clay this season and with the exception of the tournament in Casablanca has been knocked out each time by a player that is ranked much lower than him.

In fact, on five of the occasions, a player ranked well outside the top 100 and three times outside the top 200.

His history at the French Open being just 23 years old is virtually non-existent with a first round knock out last season in his first appearance. He made the third round of the 2014 Australian Open in what was his best Grand Slam performance to date.

Interestingly, Dzumhur’s first round game against world number 70 Mikhail Youzhny. Youzhny, however had to retire with injury just two sets into the game, which Dzumhur was dominating. At the point the match ended, Dzumhur had only dropped three games.

His second round game was a little bit more difficult, but defeating Marcos Baghdatis in four sets can never be laughed at. Dropping only nine games in the three sets he won was even more impressive.

Federer has been really good on clay however, only losing three games since the clay court season began. He has lost to Gael Monfils, Nick Kyrgios and Novak Djokovic and has won games against big name players such as Thomas Berdych and Stan Wawrinka. In fact he has only lost 5 from 30 games all year.

Federer has won the French Open a single time, and has made the final a further four times, however has had a drop off in results in recent years. In 2013, he made the quarter finals and last year was bounced out in the fourth round. With his form on clay though, one would think he will go further than that this year.

Federer has had two easy straight sets wins to kick off his 2015 French Open campaign. He firstly defeated Alejandro Falla dropping just 10 games across the three sets and then Marcel Granollers despite being pushed to a tie break in the second set.

The pair have never faced off before, however despite this the betting odds may as well not even be there. Federer is rated a $1.01 chance to win, whilst Dzumhur is rated as a $26.00 outsider.

PREDICTION: Federer, as the betting odds will tell you, should have no problems accounting for Dzumhur in this third round fixture, however Dzumhur should be able to win the odd game throughout the match.

Federer in straight sets.
