Sixth seed Rafael Nadal continues his push for a 10th French Open title when he meets with the world number 37, American Jack Sock on the Suzanne Lenglen Court this evening in the fourth round. Join The Roar for live scores of this match up from 10:30pm (AEST) after the Murray vs Chardy game.

For Sock, his form coming into the French Open was average at best, losing games that he should have been winning against the likes of Dusan Lajovic and Pablo Andujar, however he also had some good wins against the likes of Roberto Agut and Kevin Anderson on his way to winning a tournament in Houston.

Interestingly Sock made the second round of the French Open in 2013 and the third round in 2014. If he keeps that sort of consistency going then a fourth round exit in 2015 would be the result.

Sock started his tournament incredibly well with a surprising straight sets win over 10th seed Grigor Dimitrov.

Following this was a four set win over Pablo Carreno Busta. This was an excellent win for Sock, because each set that he won went to a tiebreaker. To be able to hold your nerve and win three of them is impressive.

His third round victory however, was in straight sets and an absolute demolition of Borna Coric as he only dropped seven games in three sets. To say the least, his form looks to be good, but Nadal will be a completely new challenge altogether.

Nadal’s form coming into the tournament was good to say the least, hardly dropping a match. However he did lose on clay to some of the big guns so will be aiming to continue his domination and get right into form before the tournament reaches the pointy end.

Nadal has hardly raised an effort so far in the 2015 French Open winning all of his games in straight sets. In fact over the nine sets of tennis he has played he has only dropped 24 games, an average of under three per game. They are incredibly good numbers and shows just how easily he is dominating his opponents.

The pair have never previously matched up, but taking into account world rankings and the fact that this is being played on what might as well be Nadal’s home court away from home, the betting odds have been greatly skewed towards Nadal with Sock now blowing out to a price of $10.00

PREDICTION: Sock will fight hard, but ultimately will come up short against the superior skill of Rafael Nadal. On clay, it will make life even harder for Sock and he will struggle to match it with Nadal. He may steal a set in the second or third though.

Nadal in four sets.
