We have action at the top, middle and bottom of the Super League ladder after last weekend’s action.

St Helens go top
sit atop the Super League table, after conquering arch enemies Wigan last Friday.

The Saints won 30-14 in front of a large home crowd, after being down 10-8 at halftime.

Wigan looked the better team in the first half and looked to go on with proceedings in the second stanza.

Former North Queensland fullback Matty Bowen endured a horror of a night.

The Wigan fullback made a meal of two St Helens kicks which lead to tries from Travis Burns and Shannon McDonnell.

Most eyes however were aimed upon Ben Flower as he faced St Helens for the first time since his send off in the 2014 grand final.

The Welsh international infamously punched Lance Hohaia in the decider and received all the hate the Saints fans could muster from the stands.

St Helens coach Keiron Cunningham was pleased with his young side’s performance.

“There’s an awful lot of passion around this game. You feel you actually deserve more than two points when you come away with the spoils.”

Castleford provide huge shock at Headingly
Castleford Tigers defied the odds to win their third successive match away at Leeds.

This was Castleford’s first victory against Leeds in the West Yorkshire derby for six matches and their first at Headingly since 2010.

Castleford got away to an early 18-0 lead before the Rhinos clawed their way back to 18-16 at the break.

A second half double to Tiger winger Denny Solomona and late drop goal from Liam Finn secured the unlikely victory for the Tigers, their tenth of the season.

Castleford now sit in fifth place on the table, while Leeds have relinquished their lead to St Helens.

Robins snap losing streak
After three successive defeats and one win in their last seven starts, Hull KR finally stopped the rot with a 38-16 win over Widnes.

Winger Ken Sio bagged three tries for the home side as they dominated from the get-go.

Josh Mantellato went over in the seventh minute after a loose ball was picked up by Kris Welham.

The Rovers scored three tries just before half-time to give themselves a comfortable 26-10 lead.

The win keeps Hull KR’s top-eight hopes alive as they move to be just two points behind city rivals Hull FC.

The Black and Whites lost 20-14 in Perpignan as Catalans veteran Thomas Bosc made his return from injury.

‘Bit o’ Biffo’ mars Huddersfield triumph
Huddersfield getting back to winning ways was the afterthought of a match featuring four yellow cards for fighting.

Referee Phil Bentham was forced to use the sin bin after two massive brawls in the second half of Huddersfield’s battle with Warrington.

Danny Brough marked his 400th match with a sin binning followed by homage to the infamous Tamati versus Dowling tussle, when he squared up with Warrington’s Anthony England on the sideline.

The Huddersfield stand-off was instrumental in the Giant’s 30-19 win over the Wolves, as he kicked three goals and directed his side to victory.

The fight appeared to start after a Huddersfield player appeared to punch an opponent on the ground, this resulted in Daryl Clarke and Jake Connor sitting down for ten minutes.

More has since come from this incident including Anthony England facing eight matches on the sidelines for a spitting offence.
