Federer has been in sublime form recently, aside from his loss at the French Open recently.

Damir Dzumhur will feel, however, that he has a chance of beating Federer if he can successfully attack the Swiss maestro’s backhand. Dzumhur will want to push Federer to at least four sets to wear out the Swiss so that he can use speed to take out his seeded opponent.

Roger Federer will no doubt dominate this game on centre court. The Basel-born world no. 2 will be aiming for his eighth Wimbledon title, and should play his hardest to knock Dzumhur out of the tournament early. Progressing to the second round may not be as easy as many would have thought however.

The only time Dzumhur and Federer have met was in Round 3 of Roland Garros this year where Federer won in straight sets 6-4, 6-3, 6-2.

Damir has done surprisingly well in last ten matches with a win-loss record of 7-3. Ranked 88th, he recently lost in a close encounter with Horacio Zeballos in the Moscow Challenger Quarter-Finals. Federer has won nine of his past ten matches, with his only loss coming in the quarter-finals of Roland Garros to eventual champion Stanislas Wawrinka.

He is hot favourite in this one, and rightly so.

Prediction
Damir will struggle to hit the right notes.
