Coming off the back of an unsuccessful Eastbourne campaign that saw her drop out at the quarter-final stage of the tournament, Gavrilova will be going into her first Wimbledon with a huge opportunity to showcase her skill set. Gavrilova has not had much rest since her loss to Sloane Stephens in Week 25 but will be ready to take on Begu as she takes to Court 6 on Tuesday morning.
Begu has received some rest since she was knocked out during the Round of 64 at Eastbourne and will be looking to build on her strong performances in Melbourne and Paris so far this calendar year. Down on form recently, Begu has surrendered to a 4-6 record in her last ten matches which may contribute to an early exit in the tournament. The Romanian right-hander will need to use her rest to her advantage if she is going to progress to the next round against the 41st ranked Gavrilova.
Gavrilova and Begu have never met. Daria Gavrilova has won 6 of her past 10 matches and has gone deep into the finals at both Eastbourne and Rome. Begu has experienced early exits at Eastbourne and Birmingham in preparation for the Championships, having only won 4 of her past 10 matches.
