Richmond spearhead Jack Riewoldt has signed a three-year contract extension that will take him through to the end of the 2019 AFL season.

The two-time Coleman Medallist’s current contract was due to expire at the end of next season.

His new agreement comes a week after the Tigers secured the crucial signing of key defender Alex Rance.

To secure Jack for an extra three years is a great result for the Club, and all Richmond fans,” said Dan Richardson, Richmond’s general manager of football.

“Jack qualified for free agency at the end of 2016, but he had no interest in playing anywhere but Richmond, and had no hesitation in extending his contract.

“To extend his contract demonstrates a great faith by Jack in the direction the club is heading, and his willingness to be a part of it.

“Jack has been an incredibly consistent performer on field during his career so far, and has grown to become one of our most respected leaders.”

Riewoldt said he had no hesitation in signing an extension with the Tigers.

“The most important thing for me is to get this stuff over and done with. I jumped at it pretty quickly.”

Riewoldt has booted 415 goals in his career to date.
