Gajdosova must protect herself from a barrage of serves coming from Lisicki, who possesses a booming weapon. The Australian will need to focus hard on winning the first set to give herself the confidences she will need to win. That said, she probably wouldn’t mind seeing the game go to a third set to tire the big-hitting Lisicki out.
Lisicki will be firing serves toward the Australian to try and gain an advantage early. Power is her game, and Wimbledon is Sabine’s favourite tournament. The grass surface usually results in good performances from the German, such as her appearance in the final here in 2013.
Lisicki has looked threatening on grass so far this calendar year and will want to get this first-round match over within two sets to stop Gajdosova from coming alive.
Gajdosova and Lisicki have never met in their careers. Both share a win-loss record of 6-4 in their last ten matches. With a ranking of 58th, Jarmila’s recent form has not been an accurate depiction of her ranking. Gajdosova has, however, struggled against seeded opponents in the past at the majors.
