The No. 1 ranked player on the ATP Tour will easily defeat Nieminen, however, that’s not to say he won’t face some problems during the match. Djokovic has only played one match on the circuit in five weeks, when compared to his opponent’s five matches in five weeks. His practice in the lead-up to the Championships seems paltry.

Nieminen will also be on a high after eliminating Lleyton Hewitt over five tough sets in the opening round of the 2015 tournament.

Nieminen will look to target Djokovic and taunt him, trying to extend the game to at least four sets. If Nieminen can get a set off Djokovic in the first two, there could be a real tight battle on court.

The world number one cracks will begin to show if he’s extended to four and his deep baseline ground-strokes will wear out as will his serves. If Nieminen is to have any chance at winning he needs to scare Djokovic and make him lose confidence to gain a significant mental advantage over the Serbian.

Djokovic and Nieminen have met a total of six times with Novak winning 5 of their matches. Nieminen’s only win came in Sydney in 2009 where he edged out the Serbian 6-4 7-6. Last time the two met was in the first round of Roland Garros this year where Djokovic won in straight sets 6-2 7-5 6-2.
