Dual Group 1 winning mare Miracles of Life has been retired to stud, going out as a winner after winning the Group 1 William Hill Classic earlier this year.

Miracles of Life burst onto the scene in 2012 with an outstanding debut preparation which included four wins from four starts including a win in the 2013 Group 1 Blue Diamond Stakes.

That was the feel good story of the year with a little known trainer in Dan Clarken and a lesser known jockey in Lauren Stojakovic stealing the show in one of the races of the spring.

That was no easy field either, with Miracles of Life beating home Fast’N’Rocking, Shamus Award, Guelph, Dissident and Gregers.

Throughout her racing career she was known as the tiny horse with the big heart and ‘Barbie’ as she is known in her stable was as honest in her career as they come.

She had a brief lapse in form after that amazing initial preparation when she came back as a three year old, not able to replicate her previous Group 1 quality.

She was sold to an American mob Stonestreet Thoroughbred Holding for $900,000 and the plan appeared to be to send her off to the breeding barn.

Connections instead decided to keep racing her, sending to Peter and Paul Snowden for one final year on track.

She won the Group 2 Caulfield Sprint with ease but failed in the Group 3 Mumm Stakes. She spelled before coming back for the autumn, winning the Group 2 Hyland Stakes and then giving an honest third placing in the Group 1 Galaxy.

The nice touch in all of this was she finished her career off strongly on her home track, back to where it all began three years ago, with a win in the old Robert Sangster Stakes, at Group 1 level.

Miracles of Life finished her racing career with eight wins and four placings from 17 starts earning $1,577,770 in prize money.
