Serena Williams continues her quest for a Grand Slam of the majors when she takes on Timea Babos in the second round of Wimbledon. Join The Roar for a live blog of the match from 2:00am (AEST).

After being down a break early, against Margarita Gasparyan, Williams cruised into the second round with a 6-4 6-1 over the Russian.

She won eight of the last nine games in the match to overpower her opponent who qualified for the event.

Williams also only lost 10 points on serve in the whole match.

It is good form from the world number 1, who has won the last three Grand Slams.

She now faces Hungarian, Timea Babos, who defeated Petra Cetkovska in the opening round to record just her second win at this level.

Her only other Grand Slam singles win, in 2012, also came at the Wimbledon championships.

The 22 year old, who has reached 59 in the world in 2012, has good history at the All England Club. Last year in doubles she would make the final with Kristina Mladenovic.

Grass holds no fears for the current world number 8 in doubles.

Williams is a different proposition though, and she should have no problems. She has never lost in the second round at Wimbledon and she will be too powerful for her opponent.

Babos will find it hard to break, and will also struggle to hold serve.

Prediction: Williams 2-0.
