State of Origin 3 is officially a sell-out with the interstate series now expected to enjoy its highest ever attendance figure.

More than 52,000 people will cram into Suncorp Stadium for Wednesday’s Origin decider.

The figure coupled with the 91,513 fans at the MCG for Origin 1 and the 80,122 who attended the series opener, is expected to beat the previous aggregate record of 215,883 in 2013.

On top of record ratings for Game 2 this year, the NRL are expecting more of the same for game three.

“We have a decider in front of a sell-out crowd at Suncorp Stadium, it doesn’t get much better than that,” NRL boss Dave Smith said on Thursday.

“The first two games of the series have been the biggest free-to-air television shows of the year.

“Now Origin III is a sell-out and we are expecting another huge television audience.

“The support for the series has been phenomenal and I’d encourage fans to watch the decider wherever they can, from the 117 countries where it will be available.
