Lindsay Thomas takes mark of the year contender

North Melbourne small forward Lindsay Thomas might be in the running for mark of the year after taking a massive hanger over Gold Coast’s Adam Saad this afternoon.

While the Kangaroos failed to score a goal in the first term, Thomas provided a highlight for North fans when he took to the skies in search of the ball.

Resting on Saad’s shoulder Thomas had some serious hang time, turning just in time to get his hands to the ball and take the mark before he came crashing back to earth.

Unfortunately for Thomas that crash wasn’t too graceful, and he took some time to come up from his landing.

Often maligned for his willingness to draw free-kicks, Thomas has provided footy fans with a timely reminder that there’s much more to his game than ducking and diving.

Nic Naitanui’s massive mark earlier this year against Geelong in Round 9 has long been held as the winner-in-waiting for 2015’s Mark of the Year award.

This hanger from Thomas might be about to give it a run for its money.
