The home of British motorsport will see its favourite son return to fight for the victory, in the ninth round of the 2015 Formula One world championship. Join The Roar from 9:30pm (AEST) for all the action from the British Grand Prix.

At the top of the standings Lewis Hamilton leads his Mercedes AMG teammate Nico Rosberg by 10 points, with the German having won three of the last four races.

While Rosberg is no slouch around Silverstone, with his pole position last year and 2013 race victory, all attention will converge on Hamilton in front of his adoring British supporters.

52 laps will be contested across the 5.8km Silverstone circuit. Despite the change in layout, the legendary track still maintains its flair of heritage.

Pirelli have confirmed both the hard and medium compound tyres for what is expected to be a dry race. The last time this combination was used this season was in Barcelona.

Britain’s current ‘heatwave’ will also be a factor come race day, with teams such as Ferrari being favourable challengers to perennial frontrunners – going off their pace in the equally hot conditions of Malaysia and Bahrain.

On the subject of the Scuderia, having conceded two podium places in the previous two events to Williams, they will be eyeing redemption. Kimi Räikkönen’s recent run of poor form has stirred many a negative headline regarding his future in the Prancing Horse’s stable.

While this event being a home race for the majority of the teams, Force India will look forward it more than any other as they are situated literally on site. After their double-points finish in Austria the team are bullish about their prospects of routing Red Bull this weekend, with their B-spec chassis set for its belated debut.

Red Bull Racing too eye a more positive weekend after having come away from the Red Bull Ring with a sole point courtesy of Daniel Ricciardo.

As we’ve seen in Austria and Canada, the battle in the midfield has been quite tight, and again in Silverstone the bottom half of the points should be a tough tussle between the likes of Lotus, Red Bull, Toro Rosso and Force India.

Fernando Alonso is in for another engine change after his accident with Räikkönen in Austria, but it remains to be seen whether McLaren will take penalties for their home event.
