Vandeweghe is coming off a dominant win over Australian Sam Stosur. That win saw the American get her 12th straight victory – so it’s safe to say she’s one of the form players on tour at the moment.

Coco’s power was brutal, her shots were beautifully placed and she caused her opponent to make plenty of errors. If Vandeweghe can replicate her match against Stosur she will have a huge chance at defeating Safarova.

Safarova knocked out American Sloane Stephens in her third-round match and will want to progress by beating Vandeweghe.

Safarova has a brilliant forehand which she can hit plenty of winners off and is particularly good at hitting the ball down on court and her first serve is extremely effective however, she has proven to be very inconsistent in the past and lacks movement. She must also improve on her backhand.

If Safarova can focus on improving her weaknesses and stopping her opponent from targeting her, she will have a very good chance of going deeper into the tournament.

Vandeweghe and Safarova have never played each other. Vandeweghe has a win-loss record of 7-3 in her past ten matches. Coco is coming off a win in straight sets over Australian Sam Stosur 6-2, 6-0. Safarova has a win-loss record of 8-2 and is coming off a win in three sets over Sloane Stephens 3-6, 6-3, 6-1.

Prediction
Safarova will be far too strong.
