Wawrinka in three sets. 7-6, 7-6, 6-4

Wawrinka must continue to use his strong backhand and offensive baseline strokes to help march toward a maiden title at Wimbledon. Wawrinka must open strong, continue to push Goffin and tire him out.
In response, Goffin must improve his serve and look to use his own strengths not his opponent’s weaknesses. David should have a considerable advantage if he takes the game to the net, his sweeping shots will catch Wawrinka, and if executed well, could win him the game.
Wawrinka and Goffin have played each other on two occasions with Wawrinka winning both. Their most recent meeting came at Chennai earlier this year, where Wawrinka defeated Goffin in straight sets 7-5, 6-3.
Wawrinka has a win-loss record in his past ten matches of 9-1 and is coming off a win in straight sets over Fernando Verdasco 6-4, 6-3, 6-4. Goffin’s record stands at 7-3, he is coming off a win in straight sets over Marcos Baghdatis 6-3, 6-4, 6-2.
Prediction:
Wawrinka will just edge out Goffin and progress to the fourth round.
