Wawrinka’s opponent, Richard Gasquet, is coming off a tough win in four sets against Nick Kyrgios – the 4th seed must take advantage of this.

If Wawrinka can take his time to set up shots and play to his strengths, using his power, slice and direction, the French Open champ should continue his journey to his first crown at Wimbledon.

Wawrinka will be a tough opponent for Gasquet, and the Frenchman will need to put in a career-best performance if he is to overcome him. His opponent is a true all-rounder with no defined weaknesses however, if Gasquet can hold a strong defensive line and continue to hit accurate shots, he could hinder Wawrinka’s style.

Wawrinka and Gasquet have met twice in their history, both players winning a match each with Wawrinka’s win the most recent at Roland Garros in 2013, a match that went to five sets 6-7, 4-6, 6-4, 7-5, 8-6.

Wawrinka has a win-loss record in his last ten matches of 9-1, highlighted by a Grand Slam win at Roland Garros, his only loss was to Kevin Anderson at Queen’s.

The Swiss is coming off a strong win in three sets over David Goffin 7-6, 7-6, 6-4. Gasquet meanwhile holds a record of 8-2 and is coming off a win in four sets.

Prediction:
Gasquet will put up a fight but it won’t be enough to defeat Wawrinka.
