The first try of Game 3 of the 2015 State of Origin series was scored by Dane Gagai of the Queensland Maroons in the 15th minute of the match.

The first score of the match came of the boot of Trent Hodkinson, after the Blues were gifted a penalty directly in front of their sticks.

Queensland were then awarded a penalty in an identical position shortly after to draw the scores level at 2-2.

Following a strong attacking play breaking from a scrum on the left hand side of the field, the Maroons worked the ball wide, eventually finding Dane Gagai in the corner for the first try of the night.

At pace the play appeared to have potentially included a knock-on off the hand of Cooper Cronk, however the video referee was quick to dismiss this and award the try to the Maroons, giving them an 8-2 lead.
