English Premier League giants Liverpool come up against the A-League’s Brisbane Roar tonight as part of their pre-season preparation for the 2015/16 Premier League season. Join The Roar from 6:30pm (AEST) for live scores and coverage.

With Real Madrid, AS Roma and Manchester City on Australian soil for the International Champions Cup, Liverpool weren’t to be left out and have travelled to Australia at the same time for a pre-season tour of Asia.

They began their tour with a strong performance against the Thai Premier League XI, winning 4-0 with goals to Lazar Marković, Mamadou Sakho, Adam Lallana and promising young striker Divock Origi.

John Aloisi will look for his side to perform well against the Merseyside heavyweights, and potentially even cause an upset, though he is without key trio Matt McKay, Michael Theo and Luke DeVere due to a lack of fitness.

Youngster Jamie Maclaren should get his first start for Brisbane, with Thomas Broich and Jade North fit as well. A strong performance at the back is required from James Donachie in the absence of DeVere, with Luke Brattan and Steven Lustica also providing experience further up the pitch.

No matter who gets the nod to start against Liverpool, all will be eager to impress on the biggest stage that most of these players will play on.

After a disappointing showing last season, Brisbane will be looking to get off to a good start in pre-season, and a big performance against Liverpool would certainly spark some belief amongst the players and club – who have been surrounded in controversy for several months now.

Prediction:
Brisbane Roar will put on a good show and will have some good moments – especially from youngster Devante Clut who has proven he can perform on the big stage. However, Liverpool are just too strong.

I’d put my money on Liverpool to win 3-1.
