Wow – I did not see that race coming. The Hungaroring belied its reputation, and most of the 2015 F1 season form, with a dry weather classic. There were incidents and accidents a plenty, and some great racing on and sometimes off the track.

In this world of Microwaves, Apps and Self-warming Toilet Seats, people want convenience and need to know as much as they can as soon as they can, so here presented for you is the Hungarian GP Rixview, and unlike Luca Badoer, it is in point form.

• Vettel thoroughly deserved his win as it was on pace, and he seemed to be the only driver not speeding, crashing into someone, or engaging in the other general misbehaviour that seemed to infect the entire field. Hard to imagine cheering on Vettel from the dark days of the Webber-Red Bull war.

• Hamilton got lucky to somehow extend his championship lead despite doing all he could to hand Nico a big haul of points.

• Rosberg blew a golden chance. His switch to Primes came during the Virtual Safety Car. Once the Real Safety Car was deployed instead and chewed up more laps, that decision was made to look a lot more defensive than it was. But it still wasn’t the move of a guy who was trying to win the race. With preservation so much on his mind, you think he could have given Ricciardo just that little bit more space, rather than give him the intimidatory chop.

• A podium for Ricciardo should be cause for celebration considering how bad their car has been this year, but he was a real chance at the win. Third is still a great result after getting his nosehairs clipped by Nico.

• His overtaking efforts were most welcomed, and impressive given the Renault has the power of a shopping trolley against the all-conquering Mercs.

• Kvyat did well, but was certainly helped out by the Safety Car and the others tripping over themselves, which also gave him a big enough gap so that his penalty didn’t matter. Couldn’t argue with the penalty for exceeding track limits for overtaking Hamilton two lanes over.

• Big crash for Hulkenberg, with his front wing doing its best impression of a cat walking in front of you while you’re carrying your shopping bags. Is Hulkenberg the new Webber? Hopefully he gets the karmic late-career rocket like Mark got.

• Karma for Fernando Alonso in his McLaren Honda, as a fifth place is just reward for attempting to push that car into pits in Saturday Qualifying. McLaren’s double points finish was a modern day miracle. Even though it’s impossible for their special golden driving boots to give them additional performance, you’d forgive them for wearing them to every race for the rest of the year.

• Kimi tried his best to save his Ferrari career in 800 metres of the main straight, but as ever got the rough end of the Ferrari reliability pineapple. Thankfully his pending replacement was as anonymous as the rumours are about him. There’s hope yet for the Iceman.
